Join us for a party at Little Mountain to celebrate the release of our
first album, "Sounds from the Treeline," with guests The Donkeys (Dead
Oceans / San Diego) and Citizen Hands (featuring members of In Medias
Res).

Lakefield
---------
Bringing together all that they love about Death Cab for Cutie’s
songwriting, The Anniversary’s relentless hooks, Stars’ cinematic
epics, and the guy/girl vocal harmonies of Mates of State, Lakefield’s
first album, Sounds From The Treeline, is a testament to all that they
love about music – as much a product of tears and tantrums as it is a
sweet love letter to a cold Vancouver night.

Anchored by the wistful male/female harmonies of principal songwriters
Steven Luscher and Kate Rossiter, Sounds From The Treeline expresses a
yearning for escape, simplicity, love, and togetherness. Vancouver,
hemmed by mountains, ocean, and wilderness, looms like a panacea in
the minds of Canadians accustomed to more dominating urban forms and a
more punishing climate, and represents a living embodiment of the
simultaneous desires for civilization and solitude. Lakefield,
composed of Vancouver locals and transplants from Toronto and
Edmonton, tells this quintessential Canadian story.

The Donkeys
-----------
After recently opening for Why? (anitcon) in late May at The Biltmore,
The Donkeys (Dead Oceans) are returning again to Vancouver. This time
though, they will be playing in a more intimate setting at Little
Mountain Gallery preparing for finishing off their tour alongside
Deerhoof (Kill Rock Stars). With all the buzz and acclaim surrounding
the band lately, intimate settings may be few and far between in
Vancouver.

More about the Donkeys
We would love to be able to say that the Donkeys are simply four
California beach bums who love to surf, drink cheap beer and jam as
the sun sets over the Pacific. The long legacy of music hailing from
California — from Bakersfield to the Beach Boys, Sweetheart of the
Rodeo through Slanted and Enchanted — has shaped our sense that everything and everyone "out west" is laid back, comfortable and cool.
